What style of music is this and what year approx. is the style from?

At the beginning of the video - the style she sang the song in. I
figured it sounded a little 1940's-ish, but I could be wrong. What
genre is it and do you have any recommendations on songs that sound
similar as the beginning of this cover does? Thanks.
Oh, and I do realize that the actual song she's covering isn't old;
I'm just wondering about the sound of the music in which year it was
popular.
